The McTimoney technique was created by a human chiropractor named John McTimoney in the 1950s. He adapted these human chiropractic techniques for use on animals in order to aid pain and dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system. Like humans, animals also suffer back, neck and musculoskeletal problems.
McTimoney treatment is a holistic and whole body treatment which stimulates the bodies innate healing mechanism by use of fast, non-invasive movements which focus on alignment of the musculoskeletal system and neurological system by use of speed rather than force.
McTimoney animal chiropractors work with vet consent in line with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and the Exemptions Order of 2015.
By use of McTimoney alongside soft-tissue massage, I aim to release tension within the musculoskeletal system and therefore improve performance, comfort and movement. This treatment works by identifying the cause, not just by treating the symptoms – regular treatment helps to prevent compensations and their resulting issues or ailments within the horse by reducing muscle spasm, realigning the body back to its optimum, aiding relaxation, optimising performance and improving movement.
After treatment, an aftercare plan will be discussed, and the next treatment will be booked according to your horses individual need.
